14 Oct 02

Ed's truck limped into Wendover with a broken valve spring.  The combined efforts of the following people fixed the problem.  Alan Fogliadini and Mark Johnson contributed a nylon cord which was stuffed into the cylinder via the spark plug hole to support the valve.  Mike Meierle found a kludge wrench handle to compress the new valve spring (Chevy big block) donated by Roy Creel.  Roy then surgically inserted the valve keepers with tweezers.   Ed capped it off with the valve cover and removed the cord.  Roy started the engine and Ed remarked that it never sounded so good.  Glen Barrett and Ken Walkey responded with applause.

At 12:30 Joanne finally served lunch.  Afterwards Roy stood up on a table and thanked everyone for their toil, and then outlined the next days schedule.
