What an event it was! 2013 was the year where our association was once again fortunate to get invited to attend the LA Roadster Show.
Thanks to dedicated members we were able to have 3 currently running land speed racing vehicles on display. Bobby Green was kind enough and let us show off the “Old Crow Speed Shop” belly tank, Wes White brought the Lowbrow Customs sponsored 650 APF vintage Triumph bike and Jerry Cleland had his “Eightinarow” 32 Ford roadster with the straight eight Buick on display.
We are very grateful to LA Roadster and BNI 200 MPH club member Paul Winson and LA Roadster president John Kiley, who allowed us to set up across from to two dozen of historic fuel burning “Cackle Dragsters”. There was a great crowd all Saturday and even on Sunday, without the cackle cars, droves of people came to see our display.
SCTA/BNI volunteerism at its best, Jerry Cleland, Randy Foehner and Werner Schwartz chipped in and decided to help out all weekend long. They helped man the booth, invite Hot Rodders and Racers to come and join us at our El Mirage and Bonneville events and collect a nice amount of donations for our “Save the Salt” coalition fund. It couldn’t have been done without their help. Even our Chief Car Tech, Steve Davies and President Bill Lattin helped out for a while.
